FAQ

Top 10 FAQ for Alita Tile

1. How long does it take to get tile?

We carry in-stock tile that’s available immediately. For special orders, lead times typically range from 1–3 weeks, depending on the vendor. Some materials can arrive within a few days—we’ll always give you the fastest option based on your project timeline.

Lead times can vary by vendor, so we recommend ordering early to avoid delays.

2. What’s the difference between porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone?

Porcelain: Most durable, water-resistant, ideal for floors and high-traffic areas.

Ceramic: More budget-friendly, great for walls and light-use areas

Natural stone (marble, travertine, etc.): Premium look but requires maintenance like sealing, we recommend every 3 months for the sealing process

In our experience, porcelain is the most reliable option for most projects. We’ll guide you based on your space, lifestyle, and long-term durability.

3. Can I use any tile on floors and walls?

No. Not all tile is rated for floors. For example, polished tile is typically not recommended for floors due to slip risk. We’ll make sure your selection is both safe and appropriate for the space.

4. Why does marble and natural stone need to be sealed?

Natural stone is porous, meaning it can absorb water, stains, and bacteria. Sealing protects the surface, maintains its appearance, and extends its lifespan. Especially in kitchens, bathrooms, and high use areas.

This is something we see often with unsealed stone leading to avoidable damage.

5. Do you help with layout and design?

Yes. We help guide layout, sizing, and overall design so your space looks intentional, not random.

To make the process smoother, we recommend:

-Saving your inspiration photos into a dedicated album on your phone instead of scrolling through your camera roll

-Bringing inspiration that reflects the look you’re going for

-Having a general idea of your style and direction

Being organized with your inspiration helps us quickly understand your vision and guide you more effectively.

6. What should I bring before coming into the showroom?

To get the most out of your visit, bring:

-Accurate measurements of your space

-Photos or videos of the area

-Your project timeline

-Any contractor or installer details if applicable

This allows us to give you precise recommendations, accurate quantities, and avoid delays once your project starts.

7. Do you offer installation or just materials?

We primarily focus on supplying high-quality materials, but we can connect you with trusted installers if needed. If you already have a contractor, we’ll coordinate with them to make sure everything is correct.

8. I’m doing the project myself, can you guide me through the process?

Yes. We can walk you through the basics, including tile selection, layout, materials needed, and common mistakes to avoid. However, tile installation requires precision, so we’ll always be honest about what’s DIY-friendly and what may require a professional.

We’ll be upfront about what’s realistic so you don’t run into costly mistakes.

9. How do I know how much tile I need?

We calculate everything for you based on your measurements and add proper overage for cuts, waste, and future repairs. This ensures you don’t run short mid-project.

Ordering too little is one of the most common mistakes we see.
